In the middle of August Advance Conference takes place to provide young adults ages 19-29 a refuge to grow in their faith and fellowship. This year was no different, with topics pushing us to “Seek God” within aspects of our daily life. We learned about what it truly means to live with God and what that means for us and our community. We were fortunate to learn all while being surrounded by our own loving community.

Each year three camp participants are elected to be the next officers; this year’s officers are Jon Bernard, Brittany Stricklen, and Christina Weldy. We are very excited for the upcoming year and have already begun planning this year’s retreats and conference.

A little bit about the three of us; Brittany Stricklen is from Wadsworth, OH and attends the First Christian Church of Wadsworth. She just finished up a summer with Disciples Home Mission in Neon, KY and is now looking for work in the non-profit sector. Jon Bernard is from Kettering, OH and went to the Central Christian Church of Kettering. Jon is currently living in Charleston, West Virginia and works as a webmaster for West Virginia Media. Christina Weldy is from Mantua, OH and attended the Mantua Center Christian Church, in Mantua. Christina is currently living in Pittsburgh, PA where she is working for Family Behavioral Resources as a home therapist for children with autism.

We have many different and exciting things planned to bring Advance Conference attendees together throughout the year to help in service and fellowship through bible studies. Across the state there are many different Bible studies one can attend. Also coming very soon is the Hiram Farm Mission Trip scheduled for Sept 18-20. This is a great opportunity for Advance Ministries to come together to help service in our own communities.
