Ministries and Mission Interpreters Training Event
| August 29th, 2008 |
Global Ministries is hosting another national Ministries and Mission Interpreters (MMI) training event in conjunction with Missionworks, our biennial mission education event. It will be in Cleveland, OH from the evening of Thursday October 2 to noon on Sunday October 5, 2008.
As you know, MMIs are individuals who tell the story of what Disciples are doing around the globe through Global Ministries and help Disciples congregations connect to that work in tangible ways through praying, educating, seeking justice, receiving, giving, sending and growing.
We are hoping to have representatives from every Disciples region this year and I need your help in identifying the right person(s) from your region to attend. A generous donor who believes in the development of this network of Ministries and Mission Interpreters has provided funding for scholarships for 2 individuals from your region who want to make a commitment to serve as an MMI.
This year we are focusing our recruiting efforts .. individuals, networks and groups in each region. Are there individuals you would recommend in the following categories?
- Newly appointed regional mission/outreach/stewardship chair
- Leader of racial/ethnic congregation
- Regional Youth/Young adult network leader
- Disciples women
- Disciples men
- Newly retired clergy or lay leaders with a passion for global mission
Here is a link to our Global Ministries website where you can find more information about Missionworks and the registration form: http://globalministries.org/calendar/missionworks.html
Please pass along any names and contact info of key people in your region that we should contact. The deadline for registration is August 29, 2008.
I have the privilege of having an intern working with me this summer. Tracy Siegman is a student at LTS and will be working on following up this e-mail and the MMI recruiting process in our 33 Disciples regions. She will also be working on some communicating and connecting projects in the area of the regional websites, newspapers and list-serves, as well as various networks (youth, young adult, women, men…) you may have. I’ll copy her on this e-mail and you can also reply to her at tsiegman@dom.disciples.org or call at 317-713-2550.
Grateful for your partnership in global mission,
Rev. Bob Shebeck
